One day I’ll…

💐 What makes a day special?

There’s a lot of ways you might answer this question, but I’m offering you this: ✨choice✨

You choose to make a day special and so it is.

Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, first days, last days. You name it, without your decision to believe there is some magic in a day it’s just another day. October 30th used to be the day before Halloween, but for the past 14 years, it’s been more because it’s also my wedding anniversary.

It’s a choice to celebrate something or someone. A day is just a day until we choose to see it differently.

📆 Now, let me ask you about “one day”.

It’s a day you might be saving for, waiting for, or planning for. A day when you’ll do the thing, wear the thing, quit the thing, or start a thing. But it’s always in the future.

The thing about putting things off for “one day” is that the days add up. And very often the perfect, easy, right moment you plan for doesn’t show up. It’s a practice and conscious decision to choose that day for yourself. It’s a gift to realize that any day can be special because everyday is. If you woke up today, today is a gift.

As we spend these 288 days abroad, we will be letting go of the technicality of a date and enjoying the essence of the celebrations. First days of school, birthdays, anniversaries, first sushi. There’s an endless amount of things to celebrate, recognize, begin, and try.

You that you don’t have to wait for days to open up. You get to reorganize your days so that celebrations and all the good stuff, the fun stuff, and the dream stuff can happen alongside the daily routines if you choose it.

❤️ My heart is so full from every aspect of today’s pottery class that I could burst. I cannot believe I told myself it was a needless expense back home. There are a million reasons we can come up with to justify waiting for “one day”, but one reason - your joy - is enough to say yes, today is the day.

Encouraging you with all my might to say yes to what lights you up. Your “one day” is here.
