Is it worth it?
How many times have you asked yourself this question…
Is it worth it?
We know we do it with big decisions, but you might be asking yourself this more often than you realize. It could be over a cup of coffee, a new pair of jeans, or an invitation to dinner. We’re always weighing things. It’s our nature to value our resources, and that includes our time, money, and energy.
What are we really asking ourselves? A lot of times we’re trying to validate our decision. We’re looking for a way to justify it, to make it make sense - sometimes for ourselves and sometimes for other people.
When we take the logic route, ‘value’ is a black and white concept where we take society’s, culture’s or our family’s definition as THE definition. But if value is based on the benefit it brings into your life, then value is a fluctuating metric.
We see this all the time.
You might know someone who spends more money on their wardrobe or car than you would. You might know someone who spends more time decorating their house or watching sports than you do.
How we allot our resources boils down to what matters to us. How it makes us feel.
I invite you instead, to ask yourself: Is it worth it to me?
Here’s where I’d like to connect the dots of value and emotions. If feeling good keeps us in a high-vibrational state, which is an optimal state, then anything that brings us joy or makes us feel good has value.
I’m not suggesting you use this line of thinking to overextend yourself, but I’m suggesting you give it the consideration it’s due.
For me, putting something on that makes me feel good or surrounding myself with the sights or smells that lift me up are elements that help me stay high-vibe, happy, and productive. They help keep my energy focused. And therefore have great value to me.
Here’s where I’ll remind you about a main tenet of high-vibe living. It matters how you feel. Accept the information your emotions offer you and let them be included as a consideration to your final decision. Remember that thriving is accepting your own needs and making space for them. That can mean doing things or investing in things that have little or no value to someone else.
The High Vibe Habits are designed to help you consistently meet your needs without the guilt. The Slingshot Series is designed to help you stay anchored to this feel good zone with super short audio episodes that explore high-vibe living. (Have a listen to the latest HERE.)
A note of caution to make sure when you ask is it worth it, you’re not asking Am I worth it? Because you are. Worthiness is a given. We don’t do or not do things because of our worthiness. We make decisions based on the value they have and bring into our lives to move us towards what we want and need.
Stay high-vibe my friends. Sending all my love and gratitude. xx
