True or false?
It’s soooo easy to give in to that first thought.
There’s almost a comfort to giving in. Forging ahead requires energy, will power, belief. Succumbing to the weight of my initial thoughts feels like surrender….
but it’s not.
Surrender means being open to all possibility - to trusting that whatever is happening is happening FOR me.
Giving in to that first thought, that negative reflex, is allowing fear to swallow me and believing that life is happening TO me.
Here’s what I recently heard myself saying:
My life is falling apart.
That thought just popped into my head. Our a/c, my closet, a flower pot, and about 2 words ago, my pencil. (Yes, I still write with a pencil and paper.) Things have been, literally, falling apart around here.
But, one of my greatest evolutions has been the ability to not believing everything I tell myself. That first thought can be like a freight train, with an enormous amount of momentum behind it - and truth. To change directions at this point can require monumental strength.
And that’s where Micro-dosing Happiness comes in. When I pause and question that thought, I get to choose something else. There’s so much power in pause. Now you’re in charge instead of being driven by your subconscious.
Even if it’s something you don’t fully believe at first, just reminding yourself that the first thought isn’t the only option begins to open the door to feeling more possibility.
It’s true that those four things broke. It’s also true that the hundreds of other things around me are working just fine. Where I put my focus is my choice. It’s that focus that determines how I feel and ultimately what I do.
I could be grumpy, stressed, and take it out on my family. Or…I could appreciate all the stuff that’s working and in tact. I could see this as an opportunity to bring fresh things into my life. Maybe even use it as a chance to get creative.
The pause (micro-dosing happiness) opens the door to choosing the High Vibe Habits which always lead you back to a constructive thought. Back to feeling better. And that lets you make choices that line up with your values so you keep feeling good and moving towards the life you want.
