Enough is enough

Anyone else find it hard to turn off? Pause? Rest? Take more than one deep breath at a time??

Our ‘on’ switch gets flipped and it’s easy to forget that we have the power to toggle it the other direction.

How do we answer that question - what’s enough - without feeling guilty?

We can turn this from a philosophical question into a practical one. 'What’s enough’ has an answer when we stop and decide.

Last Friday, I found myself getting ready for bed and instinctively thought, I didn’t get enough writing in today. I told my friend I wanted to get in another two hours. And then, I took stock. I had already completed one of those hours and had time for the other.

I almost grudgingly gave into the idea that I _had_ done enough. I had literally set a goal and was about to meet it.

This week, I invite you to do the same. What’s something that you want to get done or needs to get done? What would feel like a good amount of time or progress for the day or week?

I’m on a writer’s high (I think it’s like a runner’s high, but I’m not actually a runner). I’m excited to wake up at 5:15 in the morning because I’m so close to the finish line for my book. There’s always more to do. More revisions, ideas, and research. But at some point, for it to be useful to anyone, I’ve got to be done so I can share it.

I think we can find that point in many places in our lives - enough. Clean enough. Work enough. Make enough. Do enough. Help enough. Give enough. Plan enough.

Because it’s also important to live enough. And you are always more than enough.

Sending all my love and gratitude xx
