Achievement reversed

I’m curious. I’m passionate. I’m a doer.

I love checklists. I love dreaming. I love creating.

For the longest time though, my relationship with achievement was about getting other people to believe or recognize my efforts. That was exhausting.

It made me question my drive. Was everything I was doing to earn something from someone else?

There was an emptiness to that idea that I didn’t want to be true.

How do we achieve full over empty?

I can directly trace my spike in courage to the moment I became a mother. It has always felt easier to fight for someone else. My children were worth it. And I did (and do) this work because, in the beginning at least, I didn’t know I was worth it.

Any of us can unpack and surrender our old stories, insecurities, and lack at any point, though many of us will wait for life to present us with an opportunity to ignite our own flame. We don’t have to wait for someone or something else. There’s no perfect, convenient moment. Now is the time. Feeling good isn’t waiting for you around the corner, after that milestone, or when someone else finally says you’re enough.

It’s here. Right now.

Over the past decade, my motivation has slowly reversed. (You can hear my very candid journey HERE in my latest interview.) Instead of looking around me, I look within. I’m doing things these days for what I recognize and hope to find in myself, for the potential I see in me. The emphasis is on courage instead of validation.

You might see my letters in your inbox, my posts on social media, or my workshops and talks. But what you don’t see is the consistent work I do daily to that lets me be me. The work I teach is the work I live. We are evolving together.

I’ve learned to tend to my faith reservoir. Because when it dries up, I shrivel. I wilt. I’m not the person I know I can be. And that always leads to empty.

Stay full my friend. Take the time to tend your reservoir. Make investing in yourself a habit. It’s not only okay for you to receive from the life you live, it’s necessary and generous to all. Let the High Vibe Habits guide you into the happy and healthy life you seek.
